What used to be called the Fresh Air Machine by some and the Fresh Air by EcoQuest by others will now be called the Fresh Air Surround. The company that used to make this air purifier, EcoQuest International, no longer exists.

It was once based in Greeneville Tennessee and employed some 600 people , but fell on hard times and bad business decisions in 2007 and 2008 and was purchased by Aerus Holdings out of Dallas Texas back in the middle of 2009. The company has since been renamed Vollara which means "to fly".

The company will still sell the Fresh Air Machine (as called by some, but not its official name) but as mentioned earlier, it will now be called the Vollara Fresh Air or the Fresh Air Surround. The air purification system will still clean the air in a home of 3,000 square feet or smaller. You don't have to have a home that's that big, but if you do, this air purifier will clean the air and make it smell great, just like after a thunderstorm, in your entire home.

Top secret news is coming from the EcoQuest blog that EcoQuest International may be reviving the once thought dead WindTree wind mill project.

WindTree had been worked on by Alpine founder Bill Converse for several years, but then it was suddenly dropped a few years ago when it apparently didn't work as planned. Converse has since left the company for Natural Air systems and did not take the project with him.

There's a great post over at EcoQuest International blog about the California Air Resources Board and a totally misleading article about how air purifiers produce smog.

Mr Robert Roy Britt of Live Science entitled his article Isn't it Ionic? Air purifiers make smog and has since admitted he made a mistake, but the fact remains he has given the impression that air purifiers do make smog when this is nothing but pure propaganda.

Even though Mr Britt says he made a mistake, I don't believe that he did. This is quite typical of the media to make a stir such as this and then admit a slight mistake. As most reporters do I think Mr Britt knew good and well what he was doing.

If you just bought a Fresh Air by EcoQuest you are probably excited to have one of the best selling and most effective air purifiers on the market today.

Doing maintenance on your Fresh Air Machine by EcoQuest is relatively easy but I believe it could be easier.

Compared to the Living Air Classic the maintenance is a bit more involved. The maintenance on the Classic takes about 2 minutes vs taking about 10 to 15 minutes for the Fresh Air Machine.

With the Fresh Air you need to remove 3 screws to get to the purification plate, where as in the Classic the only thing you do to get to the plate is to remove the lint screen.

With all that said the Fresh Air Machine is still a top of the line unit and I personally would choose it over the Classic by EcoQuest.

Maintenance on the Fresh Air machine is simple and only takes about 10 minutes give or take.

Maintenance must be performed once a month and the Fresh Air machine tells you when it's time for maintenance.

All you need to do is take 2 screws off the back of the Fresh Air, remove the back cover, take two screws off of the top of the lint screen, the lint screen keeps dust out of the air filter, and then remove the purification plate.
